Today's Reading of the day...

It has been awhile. But a portion of today's Gospel reading just seemed to fit naturally into thought. In an overly secular world, in a country that seems to have forgotten or at least moved away from some of its founding principals, a tiny reminder seems prudent. You may not subscribe to the precepts, or choose to follow or believe them, but they have been in place been proven over 2000 years.

We each have a choice. Each day we have a new opportunity to make that choice. We can live as we are intended to live, or we can live as we each desire personally. Personally I strive (not always successfully) to make the later align with the first.

Reading of the day...
John 13:20
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me."
May your day be filled with Peace, Joy, and Wonder..

A picture is worth a thousand words..

So you are just going to have to guess since I didn't take one yet. Ha!

Since we are in radio silence. And J is trying to stay busy, occupied, that sort of thing. Some of the basement punch list items have been getting some pressure. Being a good worker bee, I'm giving some heed to my project manager.

The "pole wrap" is up. What's a pole wrap? Think the cover of a role top desk, wrapped around one of the steel support posts in the basement to make it look decorative.

The walls have pictures and tapestry and a cuckoo clock even.

The carpeting for the stairway is on order.

My sample "faux" window was a success. Same with the glued-up,biscuit jointed shelf experiment. So I need some "garage time" to crank those out. All that might be left after that is the stairway lighting that we are thinking about. And maybe the electricity under the stairs to a different feed.

Picture is coming..

Radio Silence

As some of you know, there has been a lot going on in the past couple of weeks, adoption related. Many of the blogs have gone private and others have stopped posting. I think T & I both know that only a handful of people read our blog (I know, we just arn't that interesting!) but at the same time, we don't want to jepordize anything while we are still in process. So at this time, we are going to limit our adoption updates to our Facebook friends. We will keep posting to this blog, but you will probably hear more about basement renovations and silly E1 & E2 stories than anything else, until we have our little girl safely home....Peace Out!

Hey....is that big black hole for me???

Well shoot, what a nightmare of a week. Best I can compare is like loosing your balance on your ice skates....for a full week. Frankly, I hate that feeling. I pride myself on being "on the ball" at all times and last week, I don't even think I knew where the ball was. I forgot to return not one, but two sets of keys to company cars and ended up being chided like a 4 year old, worse yet, I took it like a 4 year old, cowering in my corner and begging for forgiveness. I found myself asking myself if people ever stop and think about the tone they are using with someone and consider the fact that the person might be having a horrible week before opening their mouth. Later in the week I realized that is probably not what happens in the heat of the moment when I found out someone couldn't do their work because my contractor had his stuff in his way and I didn't give my contractor any more leniency than the key police gave me. Instead of paying it forward, it was like I was paying it backward. He probably went on, later in the day, to blow up at someone else to relieve his frustration with me....and so the world spins round and round.....

On another note, the GPS directions for J&T's family from God seem to have gotten a virus over the weekend. We are now in receipt of good directions, bad directions and mostly confusing directions, some of which have lead us to ask why we would be discussing the significance of 9/11 in April, Oh what did we do with that road atlas........

My quote of the week "I intentially leave at least one gramatical error in each document I write. It helps remind people I am human"

Out of remission.

My M&M addiction apparently is out of remission.. (geez honey thanks for bringing them back into the house...

183 and counting

183 miles left on Destination Addis. The question is. Will I get it done before leaving to bring K home.
At which point I have, waiting in the wings, "Destination Kinshasa" 7079 miles away. At least according to http://www.mapcrow.info/Distance_between_Chicago_US_and_Kinshasa_CG.html

Given that I'd done a bit of stationary biking in the past week and a half. I think I'll read 183 before. I hope I don't, meaning that I get to leave earlier than we might be expecting.

Peace

Looking for 50 lbs!

Ok, so we aren't sure which airline we are flying yet, but we have started, as of this weekend, to reach our goal of 50 lbs of powdered infant formula to max out the checked luggage limit and carry with us . We are praying that with the help of friends and family, that we will be able to bring at least this much formula with us and additional monetary donations so we are able to purchase rice and beans for the orphanage. The pictures from this orphanage, which our K was at until she was moved to foster care, are heartbreaking. Kids as old as 2 are unable to walk due to malnutrition, and babies recieve formula only once a day due to the inability of the orphanage to purchase the formula locally at a cost of about $25 a can .We are gathering items, as well, for a garage sale the 30th of April and 1st of May and bake sale, all proceeds will go to help the children . Send us an e-mail at cknbus@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping out with a financial donation!

100% of donations will go directly to help these children.

XX days and counting..

Well J and I are not really counting each day, or maybe she is since each day J asks if I've gotten any information from US CIS regarding the processing of our I-600a. No news yet. We continue to pray mightily on this. That our case will sail through in an expeditious manner. And that we'll be able to finally bring our daughter home.

We'll keep you all posted, and any prayers you have, may you be blessed a 1000 times over for them.

Peace

Boy its nice..

Having a NEW room in the house is so nice. We've already spent quite a bit of time down there. J&I are thrilled with not having the ground floor filled with toys. Still have a punch list of things to do. But its not to bad.

Peace and Happy Easter!
